Project Profiles

San Jose Multipurpose Arena
San Jose, California

Home to the San Jose “Sharks” ice hockey team, this award-winning design, features a unitized exterior wall panel construction which was engineered and constructed by EMCO - The Engineered Metals Company.

Architects for the project, Sink Combs Dethlefs, PC of Denver, Colorado, specified the stainless steel wall and soffit panels which were incorporated into the unitized assemblies.

Architect: Sink Combs Dethlefs, PC
Contractor: Perini Building Company
Project CM: Huntcor Inc.
Products: Walls = Smith/Steelite - DYNASPAN -22 Ga. #304 Stainless
Soffit = Smith/Steelite - Trimwall - 20 Ga. #304 Stainless
Interior = Smith/Steelite - V-Beam 22 Ga. #304 Stainless

The wall panel system features a combination of preformed metal panels produced by Centria/E.G. Smith. The unitized, composite wall assemblies were fabricated in EMCO’s manufacturing facilities in Sacramento, California and transported to the jobsite, where the wall assemblies were craned into position. Each unit weighs approximately 2,500# and provides an integral external/internal wall assembly. Not only durable and weathertight, the wall assemblies afford excellent thermal and acoustic insulation performance. The composite wall assembly was subjected to full scale laboratory curtainwall testing to demonstrate the systems resistance to air and water infiltration.
